| | | Information about ringworm | | | | | | | Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin. It is similar to the infection which causes athlete's foot. However, it is caused by a different fungus located elsewhere on the body, usually on the head. It is called ringworm because it is usually round or oval with a raised border, like a ring (it can vary, however, in its appearance), but there is no worm under the skin! It tends to be slightly scaly with a clearer center. There may be only one spot, or multiple spots, which often seem to "connect" with each other. It may or may not itch.
It is acquired from close skin contact with other infected people (co-sleeping or wrestling, for example), or from infected domestic animals, especially young kittens and puppies. Transmission of these fungal agents can occur by direct skin-to-skin contact with infected people or pets, or indirectly by contact with items such as barber clippers, hair from infected people, shower stalls or floors.
An occasional cause of skin conditions in pets is caused by Ringworm. The scientific name for this disease is Dermatophytosis. It is caused by a fungus not a worm, and the lesion is not always in the shape of a ring.
Since fungi are everywhere in our environment, it is difficult to determine which pets will develop the problem. The fungus that causes Ringworm can be cultured from the hair coats of normal dogs and cats. These pets might be carriers of the disease to other pets, and might even transmit the disease to people. The problem is more prevalent in young animals and those with compromised immune systems.
People will sometimes pick up a case of Ringworm from their pet, but just because a pet has Ringworm does not necessarily mean that the people that interact with that pet will develop the problem. A dog or cat can transmit Ringworm to a person without showing any symptoms at all.
The skin lesions that appear with Ringworm are variable, and do not necessarily form a ring. There will be hair loss, usually in small patches at first. As time goes on the patches may disappear or appear at other locations on the skin. There might be scratching due to itchiness. If the hair loss occurs on the face or feet there is a chance it is due to digging habits or exposure to rodents.
Ringworm of the scalp usually begins as a small pimple which becomes larger in size and leaves scaly patches of temporary baldness. Infected hairs become brittle and break off easily. Occasionally, yellowish cuplike crusty areas are seen.
Ringworm is a highly infectious fungus. As a result, you may want to throw away any combs, brushes or hats your child has used.
The spores of ringworm fungus are found primarily in the soil and around people or animals that have the disease.
If your children develop ringworm, they're not alone. Up to 15 percent of American children under the age of 10 will develop ringworm. It doesn't reflect on your parenting skills or the cleanliness of your home. | | | | |

I started to notice ringworm on my face and immediately felt insecure and annoyed by the irritation. Prior to using the product i was using vinegar and/or lamasil but these products were harsh on my face and dried me out. What I liked about ringworm no more is that it brought moisture to my face while reducing the growth of the fungus. I only wish that the bottle was bigger because I didn't have enough to get rid of the ringworm completely...so i have to buy more. However, the size of the product doesn't discount its effectiveness. Hi,
I had been using your Athletes Foot No More in the past to treat toe nail
fungus with fantastic results and was so glad to see your new Ringworm No More product. A few years ago, I had been diagnosed with Granuloma, Annulare. It is a skin condition which produces ring-worm type lesions on my hands. No known cure. I had to endure strong steriod injections directly into the lesions, which were not only painful, but produced excruciating itchiness several days later.
One day, a few months ago, I was trying to psyche myself up for going
in for more injections on new lesions that had popped up, when I saw
your product Ringworm No More on the internet. I decided to give it a try. I applied some directly to all the lesions. I didn't think it could hurt. The difference, over night was incredible. After twice a day treatments, the lesions are completely gone!! My dermatologist told me that the cause of the lesions were unknown, and there is no known cure, just the injections to hasten the recovery.
