Herpes is a virus carried and transmitted between humans and animals. There are approximately eight different strains of the herpes virus. The two main types of the virus are Herpes Simplex 1 (HSV1) and Herpes Simplex 2 (HSV 2).

Recent landmark study in Cologne, Germany provides quantitative proof of anti-viral and anti-herpes effectiveness of essential oil constituents.
